FDR at Yalta 1945; Elie Wiesel in New York 1968

There is only one sin committed against mankind and its generation, and that is the falsification of history. ~Friedrich Hebbels

This program falls on Presidents Day--another U.S. "Monday" holiday. After first reading from The Fire: The Bombing of Germany 1940-1945 (about the non-industrial city of Pforzheim), followed by some commentary on the fierce, growing campaign to dismiss the facts about Dresden, the other topics covered will be:

  • The Yalta "Big Three" Conference of Feb. 4-11, 1945;
  • A listener's question about Adolf Hitler's post-WWI connection with "the Reds;"
  • Elie Wiesel's 2006 changes to his book Night.

Night #1 and Night #2—What Changes were Made and Why, Part One

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

On Tuesday, January 17, 2006, Amazon.com announced that it was changing the categorization of a new translation of Elie Wiesel’s Night from novel to memoir.

Amazon would also revise the editorial description of the original edition to make clear that they consider the book a memoir, not a novel. “We hope to make these changes as quickly as possible,” said Jani Strand, a spokeswoman for the online retailer. The day before, Oprah Winfrey had announced that Night was her latest book club choice, displacing her previous selection, James Frey’s A Million Little Pieces.

Left: Oprah Winfrey and Elie Wiesel pose together at the  Elie   Wiesel Foundation for Humanity Award Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on May  20, 2007.  Winfrey was honored  with  the  Humanitarian   Award for “positively impacting people all over the world, especially children.”  One year earlier, she had selected Wiesel’s “Night” for her popular book club “pick” which sent it immediately to the top of the national bestseller lists.

The sudden switch from fiction to non-fiction caused some discussion and questions, which Strand brushed away by saying,  “Amazon.com’s data source for the Oprah Book Club edition of Night inaccurately classified the book as fiction.” She declined to offer details. The book, re-classified as “Autobiography” and blessed by Oprah, was already No.3 on Amazon.com as of that Tuesday afternoon! Wiesel, interviewed later with his literary agent Georges Borchardt, insisted they had never portrayed it as a novel.

But the publisher did.1 There has been confusion about the question for so long—even Wiesel’s defenders have to admit it. Ruth Franklin, in her 2011 book, A Thousand Darknesses, wrote: “Unfortunately, Night is an imperfect ambassador for the infallibility of the memoir, owing to the fact that it has been treated very often as a novel—by journalists, by scholars, and even by its publishers.”2  On Night’s Wikipedia page it has long been described as autobiography, memoir, novel—yes, all three. How long will that continue? As long as there are editions of Night that still sport those labels, one assumes.

As for Wiesel and Borchardt, they answered questions about differences in the text of the new edition by saying they were not significant enough to justify raising questions. The next day, Wiesel’s wife Marion, the translator of the new edition of Night, said in an interview that among the changes was a reference to the age of the book’s narrator when he arrives in 1944 at Birkenau, the entry point for Auschwitz.

2012 posterDresden destroyed, Feb. 1945

Above: 2012 poster announcing memorial march by nationalist parties and (right) Dresden and it's great cultural treasures utterly destroyed  in two days... for why?

Tanstaafl of the Blog Age-of-Treason will be onboard with Carolyn Yeager to memorialize the 67th anniversary of the Feb. 13-15 fire-bombing of the beautiful, irreplaceable "Florence on the Elbe" by the barbarian hoards in the sky called British Bomber Command and U.S. 8th Air Force. From whence does such virulent hatred come? We'll ask this question and discuss why Germans still cannot mourn or mark their own losses. There is no monument built in memory of the murdered Dresdeners and refugees in that city, except for a universalized one in the city cemetery! You can see a wide selection of photos and information here.

In the first half-hour, Carolyn will read about Dresden from The Fire: The Bombing of Germany 1940-1945 by Jörg Friedrich. Listener calls taken in the 2nd hour of the program.

Hungarian Deportation: An Objectivity Lesson

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

For a lesson in objectivity, let's compare this photograph of real Hungarians arriving at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and meeting real German officers, guards and kapos ...

...with this sketch of a similar scene that was presented to the public by the Auschwitz Memorial Museum in Poland in January of this year.

They expect us to believe it was "taken from a unique sketchbook drawn around 1943 at the Birkenau camp by a prisoner who hid it in a bottle."  Further explanation is that "a former prisoner [unnamed] working as a watchman discovered the 32 sketches in a bottle near the death camp's crematorium in 1947." He found it in 1947? Yet it was only January 2012 that they published these drawings in a book they titled "The Sketchbook from Auschwitz?" It includes 22 pages of drawings from this "unknown prisoner whose initials were apparently MM."

New Information - Shlomo Wiesel dies in labor camp in 1943?

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

New information has come to the attention of this site about the Yad Vashem “Page of Testimony” (PoT) filled out for Shlomo and Mendel Wiesel by their cousin Yaakov Fishkowitz in 1957.

Our previous description of these pages was done without knowledge of Hebrew; thus we erred in one instance dealing with the place of death of Shlomo and his brother Mendel Wiesel. Note on the form above that “Sighet,” on line 10, refers to the “Place of residence during the war,” not to the place where death occurred.

Going to line 11, the instructions written in Hebrew on the right of the page read (right to left):

11. Place of death, time and circumstances (Place also in Latin alphabet).

To the left of that Fishkowitz has written (also right to left): in camp / labor / 1943

This gives quite a different picture than we had before! According to Yaakov Fishkowitz, his cousins Shlomo and Mendel Wiesel were both in a camp performing labor in 1943, where they both died in that year. Fishkowitz obviously did not know what camp. Sighet was located right on the border with what had been Czechoslovakia, but was at that time more of Hungary until 1945. [See map in Shadowy Origins of Night II) Today, that area is Ukraine, and Sighet is once again in Romania. If the brothers had gone north on some kind of mission, toward Poland, they could have gotten arrested and placed in a camp as labor. Continue reading at Elie Wiesel Cons The World

The Heretics' Hour, LIVE on Monday Jan. 23, 9-11 pm Eastern time (6-8 Pacific) on Voice of Reason network. "Propaganda War"

Propaganda is what's for dinner.

We are in a real war but mostly are not aware we are and don't understand where the battles are taking place and why we have been losing, overall, for 70 years now. Instead of taking on the enemy in a direct and forceful way, we are more often subdued by name-calling and the questioning of our motives.

The enemy propaganda is not hard to see but because we are surrounded by it all the time it takes on the appearance of normality. More critical observation is needed. In this program, I will return to the Wannsee Conference Protocol propaganda as it has been publicly presented this past "anniversary" week, and also go over some points that were not fully explained last week. I will also cover some other examples, such as the Zwickau false flag, the Mein Kampf publishing controversy, and even the "Hitler was a foreign agent" red herring that continues to convince people. In the first half-hour segment, I'll read from The Fire, pages 62-69. Call-ins welcome in the 2nd hour:  toll free 855-477-2283.

When did Elie Wiesel arrive at Auschwitz? Could he have received the number A-7713?

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

Fact is–it’s a deliberately confusing story with two distinct versions. Originally, he was too late to be assigned that number; in a newer rewrite, he was right on time. Which would you believe?

Above: Hungarian transport arriving at Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944. Notice the casual atmosphere, the inmate-workers in striped clothing (not wielding clubs), the non-threatening guards spotted here and there (without snarling dogs), and the crematorium chimney in the distance — which is not belching smoke and fire.

Seventy years ago, on January 20, 1942, popular history has it that the "Final Solution" for Europe's Jews was planned by a group of second-level 'Nazi' officials at the Villa Wannsee (pictured) outside of Berlin. Do you or have you bought into that? And where do Paul Gottfried and Alfred de Zayas come down on the "Final Solution?" ODEONSPLATZ: The Rise of an Unknown

in Carolyn Yeager

Zuerst magazine interviews Werner Bräuninger

December 2011

 Translated by Wilhelm Kriessmann

Biography of Werner Bräuninger

Werner Bräuninger, born 1965, was a freelancing publicist and essayist. His book Odeonsplatz: The Rise of an Unknown (Universiras 2011) describing Hitler's life from 1890 to 1935 caused a sensation.  His book, Hitlers Adversaries in the NSDAP (Herbig 2004), about the imminent opposition in the National Socialist state, as well as his work about the spiritual roots of Count Claus von Stauffenberg within the circle around the poet Stefan George, were controversially discussed.

Bräuninger’s publications have drawn attention from the FAZ, Die Welt and the renowned Zeitschrift fuer Geschichtswissenschaft (Science of History magazine). His website is www.marmorklippen.de

* * *

  Feldherrnhalle on Odeonsplatz, Munich

Zuerst:  Mr. Bräuninger, your new book Odeonsplatz might cause a small revolution in the German book market—a book about Hitler which has neither his name in the title nor his picture. Does it not really mean “Hitler sells?”

B:  It is, as you say, obviously a revolution because we do not live in normal times. From Norbert Knopp, we naturally could have expected a title like “Hitler`s German Shepherd Dogs.” My intention was a quite different one.

Ten Questions for “Elie Wiesel Believers”

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

10 “tricky” questions for  those who believe Elie Wiesel was in Auschwitz and Buchenwald camps and that he wrote Un di velt hot geshvign (And the world remained silent) based on that experience.

On the CODOH Forum Friedrich Paul Berg started a interesting thread on Dec. 30 with the title “Ten Trick Questions for “Holocaust Survivors.”1   Berg writes that his questions

are not really tricky at all. They are simply the kinds of normal and reasonable questions that defense attorneys should always ask prosecution witnesses. However, we have all been so thoroughly programmed with holocaust propaganda that hardly anyone ever dares to ask the right questions.

Berg is quite right and it gave me the idea to create my own questions for those (even some revisionists) who insist that Elie Wiesel has to be the author of the Yiddish book published in 1956 in Argentina, and that I am oh so wrong in trying to prove otherwise.

Above is an image of Elie Wiesel in 1954, age 25-going-on-26, when he says he wrote Un di velt … attached to some kind of entry card issued by the Yugoslavian embassy in Paris.

So here are the questions I would like those ’believers’ to answer. As Friedrich Paul Berg would say, they are normal and reasonable questions that attorneys should ask witnesses in court. Try your hand at answering them and send your answers to ewtattoo@codoh.com or write them in a comment below. (Serious answers only, please)

Public Defender: This 'nice, intelligent, educated' Beate Zschäpe should be released from jail.

in Carolyn Yeager

Beate Zschäpe turned herself in to Police on Nov. 8 after being named the 3rd member of an alleged neo-nazi terror cell in Zwickau, Germany.

Her lawyer, Public Defender Wolfgang Heer, filed a complaint against her detention with Germany's Federal Court of Justice on Tuesday, Dec. 27. In it, he said there were insufficient grounds for suspecting his client of having founded a terrorist organization or being a member of such an organization.

He stated there was no evidence of a firm organizational structure among Uwe Böhnhardt, Uwe Mundlos and Zschäpe and  currently no proof of a common will to organize, which is also a legal criterion for a terrorist organization. Furthermore, there is no evidence that Zschäpe was involved in creating the videos that were found on the scene of the burned house where the bodies of the two men were found.

In an interview with Der Spiegel on 12/27, Heer said, "Currently we have only seen about 500 pages (of case files), of which most are not significant in relation to the accusation of forming a terrorist organization. We have not even seen any of the files from the murder investigations."  He said said it was impossible to guarantee a fair trial under such conditions, and that Zschäpe's ability to defend herself was severely curtailed as a result.

The Truth about Night -- Why it's Not Elie Wiesel's Story

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

Why is Grandma Nisel not mentioned in Elie Wiesel’s Night?

According to Hilda Wiesel’s 1995 “Survivors of the Shoah” testimony, Grandmother Nisel (also  spelled Nissel) went with the family to Auschwitz.

According to Elie Wiesel’s 1995 memoir, All Rivers Run to the Sea1, Grandmother Nisel went with the family to Auschwitz.

But Grandma Nisel is not mentioned even once in Wiesel’s 1958-60 supposedly autobiographical Night.2

Did Wiesel simply forget about his grandmother only 10 years after the event and then remember her again in the 1990’s? Did he cut her out because he wanted to condense his book and she was peripheral to the storyline? Neither of these can be believed. In the first place, Wiesel makes it clear in All Rivers how important Grandma Nisel was to him and he writes affectionately about her. Secondly, by including his grandmother when he mentioned his mother and three sisters, he would not have added more than a few words to the deportation narrative, as we will see. Thirdly, Grandma Nisel, as a member of his family group that he says he lost at Auschwitz, could not be left out when writing about his family group.

And, in fact, he didn’t leave her out of his memoir, nor did Hilda leave her out of her testimony. But Night is another story (pun intended).  Continue reading at Elie Wiesel Cons The World

Komisarjevsky Jury Didn't Take Elie Wiesel's Advice

in Carolyn Yeager

By Carolyn Yeager

Jury decides that death is the answer.

On Friday, December 9, the jury deciding the fate of home-invasion rapist/murderer Joshua Komisarjevsky rejected mitigating circumstances presented to them by Defense Council and decided for death on all 6 counts.  This was hailed by the general public (as noted in immediate comments to newspaper stories1), while it was a disappointment to the state of Connecticut’s largest newspaper The Hartford Courant, some Connecticut lawmakers and Elie Wiesel.

Above: Dr. William Petit, sole survivor of the brutal 2007 home invasion by Stephen Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky that took the lives of his wife and two daughters, watches as his sister Johanna Chapman thanks the jurors for taking their time to come to the “right decision” in this painful and disturbing case. Chapman attended all the court sessions with her brother.

Above: The father of murdered Jennifer Petit, Rev. Richard Hawke. on left, embraces Christopher Komisarjevsky (right), the uncle of Joshua Komisarjevsky, outside the courtroom after the verdict was read. The elder Komisarjevsky, who strongly resembles Nikita Khrushchev in this profile pose, has written that his father, Theodore Komisarjevsky, was a renowned theater director from a famous Russian theatrical family. His mother was a leading figure in modern dance, a teacher and a writer. He is himself the former chief executive of the prominent public relations firm Burson-Marsteller. Joshua Komisarjevsky was adopted as an infant by Christopher’s brother Benedict; his mother unknown. Christopher K. was the only family member to attend the sentencing trial, during which time he made friends with the Hawke and Petit families.

On Oct. 26, 2010, Wiesel made a speech in Connecticut while the trial for Steven Hayes was in session, calling on the jury to not give the death penalty to either Hayes or Komisarjevsky for their brutal torture/killing spree. In his speech Wiesel repeated the words “Death is not the answer.”  I posted this article about it in October on Elie Wiesel Cons The WorldContinue reading at Elie Wiesel Cons The World.
